How to Measure Replacement Patio Furniture Slings
Measuring takes about 5 minutes per chair. Follow these steps and your custom slings will fit right the first time.
Before you start
- Check that we can make your sling. Your chair needs straight sling rails that unbolt from the frame. See chairs we can’t re-sling →
- Measure the old sling while it’s still on the chair and under tension. Badly ripped or stretched slings can give wrong numbers.
- Use a fabric (soft) tape measure so you can follow the curve of the chair.
- Always round up to the nearest 1/4".
Measure the width
Measure across the sling from fabric edge to fabric edge, right where the fabric meets each metal rail.
In this example the width is 19.5".
Measure the length
Measure from the top edge of the fabric to the bottom edge of the fabric. Keep the tape against the sling and follow every curve of the chair.
In this example the length is 49.25".
Check your spline size
The spline is the cord sewn into each side of the sling that slides into the rail. Most chairs use our standard 7/32" spline; some need the larger 1/4".
